Additional D-Link DWA-130 Wireless N USB Adapter Information

The D-Link Wireless N USB Adapter (DWA-130) provides a better wireless signal for your computer than existing wireless 802.11g technology. Adding Wireless N to your computer provides an excellent solution for doing everyday activities such as transferring files, browsing the Internet, and downloading music. D-Link Wireless N products use Intelligent Antenna technology to transmit multiple streams of data which enable you to receive wireless signals in the farthest corners of your home. Not only does D-Link's Wireless N technology extend your wireless range, it also works with your existing 802.11g and 802.11b wireless routers and access points.

What Customers Say About D-Link DWA-130 Wireless N USB Adapter:

This isn't a big deal but it is certainly annoying as I find myself waiting for a good two to three minutes during reboot just for the adapter. The adapter works well once connected, has good speed and is relatively easy to use. My only complaint is that everytime I restart my computer I have to either "repair my connection" or reenter my network password to get the adapter to make its initial connection to the router. My computer runs well and has no issues. I am running a new D-Link DIR-655 router which seemingly should connect well to a D-Link adapter, but as of now I have no clue why the adapter always has that initial startup problem.Nonetheless if your looking for a cheap adapter and don't care about some initial startup hassle, I would recommend this adapter.

The D-Link Adaptor did not install properly the first time, and the base unit that was suppose to come with it does not work. Further more, I get interupted signals, losing my internet connection constantly. Over-all, I have been moderately to dissatisfied with the product.

This is a mediocre product and I suspect it has compatibility issues with other vendors' wireless products.A) It has trouble maintaining connections, while another vendor's products on the same laptop and PC do not.B) The speed of the connection may start as high as 144 Mbps before dropping to 11 Mbps or lower within one minute on those connections it does struggle to keep open.C) It's terrible on streaming media, even from a server on the same LAN. Media is choppy and often stops for buffering.D) Once the connection drops, it's frustrating to have to go through the whole process reconnecting and logging in.I bought a replacement product from another vendor, and I'm a lot happier.

Then I thought to myself, "oh no. The new driver detected the adapter. When it got to the part where it directed me to install the adapter, it said it could not detect it. Don't get me wrong this is a good product. However, it's never dropped a signal. With the one minor hiccup above, this is a good product overall. So, I downloaded the new driver and installed it into the computer.

Low and behold, there was another driver.

I received a defective product." So, I decided to uninstall and reinstall a few more times.

However, once that occurred, I've had no problems.

It does work, but the setup disc that came with it gave me problems. When I first received the product, I put the setup disc into the drive and proceeded to follow the directions.

After that, it took a while to get reception with the DIR-655 router.

Same thing happened.

I was almost about to give up, when I decided to see if d-link's website had any updated drivers.

It normally cycles between 1-3 bars of reception.

Just remember that this product is only compatible with Windows 2000 and XP.I recommend this product for anyone who's considering a home wireless network.

Router upstairs 2nd floor. There were problems with our old G router/adapter setup. Reception is great even in the basement PC. Internet comes in and would go out. Switched to N draft router (more or less same specs as N standard) and this adapter. Now I never had a problem with G in notebooks, just PC's. Problem solved now.
